Still Lifes

Cabernet Over Black

Cabernet Over Black

FOR SALE I love playing with light in my paintings. Dramatic lighting makes compositions so much more striking, and a glass of wine over black provides wonderful light and color. Material: Acrylic on canvas

Box of Forgotten Memories

Box of Forgotten Memories

An assignment for an advanced painting class at Elon University to do a still life of random objects in a box. I chose objects that remind me of my own grandparents. One can imagine in their own way what each item might mean. Material: Oil on canvas

The Invisible Enemy

The Invisible Enemy

For this acrylic painting, I used plastic army men as a still life, but I placed them against an abstract background. Material: Acrylic on canvas

Drift Wood

Drift Wood

This work is a bit more abstract. It is an image of a piece of drift wood. On the left side the wood was traced, but pieces of white were cut out here and there, preserving the shape of the outline. On the right, the photo consists of a series of straight lines, but once they hit the shape of the drift wood they follow the contours of the object. They come out the other side straight once again. Material: Construction paper and sharpie on Strathmore paper

Coach glasses and case

Coach glasses and case

This is an oil painting of a pair of glasses I bought at the Oakwood Eye Clinic in Dayton Ohio. I sold the painting to the store, and it sits with the glasses currently on display. Material: Oil on canvas
